Challenges…Empowering or Crushing?

No matter how strong your resolve or how prepared you are to achieve your desired goal there will always be a challenge or two swooping in to steal your thunder or slap you in the face, it’s just the nature of being human. How you perceive these challenges will determine your next step towards success.

The topic of Challenges is massive. Not only are there internal and external challenges that can throw you a roadblock, but most external challenges have numerous internal aspects that need addressing before the way is cleared and you’re free to move forward, and vise versa.

But, today I’m talking in generalizations (which, by the way, can sometimes be effectively removed as a bundle with certain tools, though at times only after a specific aspect has collapsed) about our nature, or as I have come to understand it, our past programming.

Some of us can see a challenge as a conquest or competition to be won. You would think this is the optimum attitude to have, I know I sure did. By not letting a challenge bring them down emotionally their view of the issue can remain clear and they can add an additional step to overcome it. Then I discovered something called Obsession, winning at all costs. To someone who becomes obsessed, getting over a challenging hurdle can be all-consuming and the stress that surrounds this can begin to have a negative impact on their life.

Being able to see a challenge for what it is; an additional, unforeseen part of the process to our goal, is an extreme rarity. Most of us become quite emotional when hit with an obstruction. We can feel angry, frustrated, insecure, shamed, worthless, helpless…it can stop us cold. Why? Most of us do not handle change well. We tend to internalize it, allow it to trigger old, unhealed emotional wounds, which becomes a stressful situation that bleeds into our everyday life.

The simple answer to challenges is to allow yourself to be obsessed or feel the emotion for a short period of time, snap yourself out of it, and get back to work on your goal.

A better solution is to see each challenge as an opportunity to learn, grow, and be better. Why not view each uncomfortable issue as a message from your higher self that you’re ready to be empowered and inspired to creatively resolve that challenge.
