Why…

You’re probably looking at this post title thinking, “Well, that doesn’t say much,” but, to me that word is everything.

My mom will tell you that was my favorite word growing up, and not just to be annoying like some kids. I wanted to know the ‘Why’ of everything. And, just because I grew up doesn’t mean I grew out of my need for questioning everything.

The word Why brought me to my love of Music, showed me that each color has different energy frequencies and vibrations all their own, made me see the other side of reality, beyond face value and led me on a journey of self-discovery that I follow to this day.

That little three letter word has opened the door to so many amazing ‘ah-ha’ moments for me in my life I wanted to share with you some of the ways you can use Why As Therapy.

1. Mindfulness: Take a moment to experience something your looking at, holding, or listening to so that all of your complete focus is on that one thing. Allow yourself to find something to wonder Why about that thing (Why is it blue, why does it have a bump in that one spot, why does it cast a shadow, why does it vibrate in my ear, etc) without looking for an answer, just simple enjoy the Why…

2. Meditation: If you ponder that one Why long enough, especially if you’re repeating the same phrase or thought over and over, it becomes a meditation and you’ll find yourself in an altered state of consciousness. Your focus on the inner word or thought and outer solitary sensory experience occupies your consciousness so that you may catch a glimpse of the you that is connected to the universe/God/oneness. And then…

3. Intuition: once you find yourself in this blissful meditative state you can begin to open to answers. Expand your mind to allow whatever answers pass through as you continue to ask Why. If you begin to feel a particular answer vibrate within your body use that answer as your next Why to follow it deeper into your intuition. The only question is Why and as the answers flow simply follow them…

4: Self-Discovery: And, now that you’re in this flow of Why and intuition allow your awareness to see the connection between your Why answers and how it relates to You by questioning aloud or in your inner thoughts ‘Why I…’. The question is as if you are asking Why I something but, there is nothing to add, just ‘Why I’. Let the answers flow through and occasionally add, ‘and I…’. Follow those answers that resonate within.

When asking Why as therapy there is no judgement or doubt, no fear or pain, you’re simply watching, in the moment, completely focused, allowing any other thoughts to fade into the background because right now there is only WHY…
