Ok, so no one wants to hear this and many will reject it and some simply won’t understand…but here goes…
We never experience anything real
It’s impossible for us, as humans, to experience something exactly the way it is, not even memories, and here’s why:
- We don’t actually see what we’re looking at, we see a creation of it.
Our eyes detect light patterns and work with our brains to create images. Our brains interpret the processed visual information and match it with stored knowledge, memories, and experiences - And, color does not actually exist in the world, it’s a construct of our minds. Everything is just electromagnetic energy bouncing off objects and hitting our eyes, then our brains create an interpretation. And, the perception of color is highly subjective, varying dramatically from one person to another. That’s why some people see blue, some see purple and some see pink for the same object
- We don’t actually hear the sounds around us. Vibrations from the ear drum are amplified and reach the fluid filled cochlea. As the fluid moves it excites 25,000 nerve endings which transforms the vibrations into electrical impulses that travel to the brain which then interprets these signals…and our past experiences and expectations profoundly influence how our brains interpret these signals
Are you seeing the pattern yet?
- Our brains only remember spoken words for approximately 3 seconds. By the time our brains separate the individual words we’re missing what the other is saying and our brains fill in the gaps using our past experiences and biases
- Neuroscientist, Baba Shiv, postulates approximately 90 to 95 percent of our decisions and our behaviors are constantly being shaped sub-consciously by our emotional brain system
- A Northwestern study was the first to show that every time you remember an event from the past your brain network changes in ways that can alter the later recall of the event…so, the next time you remember it you recall not the original event, but what you remembered the previous time. And, each time you remember it the memory changes
So, what does this all mean?
Our brain’s interpretation of our experiences determines everything that we think is real
Knowing this changes everything!! If we’re all at the mercy of our subconscious minds using our past emotions to literally color everything in our world (we are) how can we possibly trust our senses to provide us with the truth (we can’t)…
THIS IS WHERE OUR INTUITION IS ESSENTIAL
The more you tune out your thoughts and emotions and tune in to your Intuition, your deep inner sensing, the easier it will become to see everything on a higher level. When you do you might just find yourself becoming more compassionate, less judgmental, less willing to blame, less bothered by life in general and more drawn in to people, places and things that fascinate or inspire you.
